The Shop at Brigdarrow

Pieter [Shopkeep]:  Aye, I've heard of it.  The bards say that after crossing through The Shadow Rift there's caverns that lead clear to the dungeons beneath the city of Stangengrad in Falkovnia - - The "Shadow Run" some call it.  Though . . . I don't believe I've ever heard of any whose made the journey and come back to tell the tale - - though I'm fairly certain more than one band of especially bold spelunkers or overly ambitious cartographers have stopped this way for supplies before attempting the journey never to be seen again.  Best of luck to you though.

Pietor’s Shop at Brigdarrow

The last one who came through you ask?  Yeah sure, I recall him . . . not a fortnight ago now that you mention it . . . traveling alone poor fool.  Distinct fella . . . late fifties I'd say, long dark hair with grave complexion . . . kept hiself armed with a type of polearm . . . an awl pike I believe it were.   Said he was hunting vampires if you can believe it.  I told him maybe he ought head south towards Barovia if that's what he was up for but he insisted he was tracking something west and believed it made its way into the Shadow Run headed for Stangengrad (the same way yer going huh?) - - hell of a thing, can't imagine that poor sap won't be meeting a grisly fate . . . even if he don't manage to lose his soul to some blood sucking creature of the night, it sounds like the best he can hope for is an audience with Vlad Drakov who don't look kindly on foreign riff raff . . . find hiself impaled on a pike if he's not careful.

His name? . . . sure . . . Aaragon I believe . . .

In any event, you'll be in for quite the dungeon crawl if yer lucky enough to make it there . . . it'll be an extended trek through the underdark.  They say it has three, sprawling, distinct, levels.  The lowest and one you'll be entering through from the Shadow Rift cave entrance is supposedly a brilliant but abandoned underground drow fortress which has laid in disuse and ruin since Prince Loht of the dark elves was assassinated by a couple savage adventurers over thirty years ago - - they say that level's still haunted by Loth's ghost . . . if the tales are to be believed.

Above that level, they say, is a largely unrefined cave network created by a combination of underground waterways (some now dry . . . some not) . . . as well as some tunnels which have been crudely dug out by undead unleashed from Darkon to the north . . . using the network as a sort of covert point of access to clandestinely release undead hordes against Drakov's cruel genocidal army from beneath the surface.

The upper most level are Vlad's dungeons.  Those'll be patrolled by the strongest, best armed and most ruthless of all military forces in the known world, Fuhrer Vald Drakov's Talons.

If yer entering through the cave entrance on the Shadow Rift side, you'll be traveling from the lowest level upward, until you reach the dungeons beneath Stangengrad before surfacing in that city.

Ya manage to get through all that . . . and you'll have found yerselves in the City of Stangengrad . . . I hope whatever yer after is worth it.

But, in any event, as I said . . . you'll all be in for quite the dungeon crawl . . . and I'm sure I have here the supplies you'll be needing . . . light sources . . . flint and steal . . . thieves picks . . . hemp rope . . . whatever you need!!  Now, what can I get you for??
